The Icon Collection
This collection is lovingly dedicated to Nancy Pfeiffer Towner (1924–2003) and her sister, Marion Pfeiffer Kornfeld—artists whose lives reflected beauty, creativity, and faith. As our rector emeritus, Father Bob Towner, shared, his mother Nancy and his godmother Marion were deeply connected through their art and their devotion. In their memory, Marion made a memorial gift to Christ Episcopal Church in honor of them both. With that gift, the parish purchased most of the icons that now grace our walls. |
The icons were commissioned around 2004–2005, during the reorientation of the nave and the creation of the new gathering area.
In 2025, as part of the Welcoming Narthex Project, the icons were gathered together along one wall and illuminated, allowing their intricate detail and color to shine.
Through their vision and generosity, Nancy and Marion continue to bless our community, reminding us that sacred art not only decorates a space, it transforms it. Their legacy endures in the light and beauty that now welcome every soul who walks through our doors to pause, reflect, and encounter the holy.
