Come as you are. Really. We mean it.

If you've ever been told there's no place for you in the Church, please know this:
There is a place for you here.

No exceptions. No asterisks. Just love.
At Christ Episcopal Church, we believe with all our hearts that every human being is created in the image of God--beautiful, beloved, and sacred just as they are..
We are a proud LGBTQ+ affirming congregation rooted in the love and welcome of Jesus Christ.

Whether you’re LGBTQ+, questioning, seeking healing, or simply hoping to find a spiritual home, we are here to walk with you.
Here, you are not only welcomed—you are cherished, celebrated, and safe to show up fully as the person God made you to be.
There is no need to hide or question whether you belong.
You do. Always.

Come as you are. Stay because you're loved.

 Our Commitment to LGBTQ+ Inclusion
We affirm the dignity of LGBTQ+ individuals in all areas of church life. That means:

  • You are welcome to worship, serve, lead, and receive the sacraments.
  • We support and celebrate same-gender marriage, and honor love in all its holy forms.
  • We speak openly about faith, identity, and justice—because silence is not love.
  • We commit to being a safe and affirming space for all of God’s people.

For nearly 50 years, the Episcopal Church has affirmed that LGBTQ+ people are beloved children of God—fully worthy of love, acceptance, and equal protection. It’s a legacy of justice and joy that we’re proud to live out every day, right here in Cape Girardeau.

At Christ Episcopal Church, our welcome is not a trend — it's a promise.
We renew it every time we say:
“Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being?”
We will, with God’s help.
— The Baptismal Covenant, Book of Common Prayer

Our LGBTQ+ ministry, creates space for spiritual reflection, healing, joy, and community. Whether you’re exploring faith, returning to church after hurt, or simply looking for connection—you are welcome here.
We also partner with organizations like PFLAG Cape Girardeau, and take part in local Pride events, Trans Day of Visibility, and other justice-centered gatherings.
We believe the Church should be a place where no one has to wonder if they belong.
Through our partnership with Intelligent, we offer trusted online resources for LGBTQ+ students seeking support, education, and safe community.
