Who is Tyler Helm?

Hey y’all! I'm your friendly priest here at Christ Episcopal Church! My pronouns are he/him, I’m proudly gay, and I’m passionate about making the journey of faith exciting and approachable for everyone!
Coming to church for the first time—or the first time in a long time—can feel nerve-racking. And sometimes, Christianity can seem like a puzzle: like trying to explain the Trinity! But Christ’s call to love? That’s crystal clear. At the end of the day, I believe folks will know us Christians by our love. So I strive to make Jesus’ commandment to love my guiding light—and I find great joy being a part of our loving, supportive church family here in Cape! What's the best part of my week as a priest? Definitely sharing in Holy Communion with our church family. It’s that sacred moment when we’re drawn together as the Body of Christ, nourished and fed at the heart of God's love! But you know what else I'd also love? Getting to know you better—maybe over a cup of coffee or a casual walk. Please feel free to reach out to me. For now, may you know that you are holy, made in God's image, and endlessly loved by the Lord. Dear ones: God loves you, and so do I! |
Tyler Helm has been the secretary at Christ Episcopal Church (CEC) since January 2022. During his time at CEC, Tyler has worked on maintaining and updating web presence and website maintenance, administrative and office work, and liturgical organization for the services when it comes to servers, weekly liturgy changes, as well as navigating the understanding the various roles of the church during his time here.
His introduction to the church began as a choir intern in August of 2021. Some of his internship projects since then has been church directory revamping, choral singing, and organizing and hosting a charity fundraising event for the church's food pantry called Spotlight Night where performing SEMO students, alumni, and faculty helped to raise food donations and money. He has also performed as a soloist in the church. He has performed works such as "Comfort Ye, My People" and "Every Valley Shall Be Exalted" from Handel's Messiah, a self-accompanied organ and solo voice work "Missae Breves in D Minor", "O Holy Night", "Psalm 51", and other performances. |
